The BrightStar Lawn Care Guide

Keep your lawn healthy, happy, and thriving—season by season.

At BrightStar, we believe a lush lawn is the foundation of a great landscape. But we know the truth:
You don’t want a monthly lawn service.
You just want to know what to do—and when.

We’ve got you covered.

✳️ Note: This guide is based on North Texas conditions and may shift slightly based on temperature changes, rainfall, and seasonal surprises (thanks, climate change). When in doubt, trust your lawn—it’ll tell you what it needs!

đź“… Seasonal Lawn Care Schedule:

February:
➡️ Apply a pre-emergent to prevent spring weeds (late in the month)
đź’§ Always water in well after applying treatments to help them activate properly.

March:
➡️ Apply your first fertilizer when the soil warms above 50°F
💧 Water it in well! And make sure you’re using the right fertilizer for your grass type—some products are grass-specific and using the wrong one can do more harm than good. Learn more about products here.

Late May:
➡️ Apply a fungal treatment (especially if we’ve had a wet spring)
đź’§ Give it a good soak afterward to help it penetrate.

June:
➡️ Mid-month, apply a second round of fertilizer to support summer growth
💧 Water it in well—and again, check that it’s a match for your specific grass type.

Early September:
➡️ Apply a weed and feed
➡️ If you’ve seen moles? Add a grub treatment too
💧 Yup—you guessed it. Water it all in afterward.

⚠️ A Word About Products:

Not all lawns are the same—and not all products work for every grass type.

Before you buy, double-check that your treatment is safe and effective for your variety of grass.
Using the wrong product can actually damage or kill your lawn, and nobody wants that.

When in doubt, ask us or check the label carefully.

🔄 Ongoing & Annual Best Practices:

âś… Water consistently year-round, especially in brutal summer heat. Most lawn issues we see? Underwatering.
âś… Aerate every 3 years to keep your soil healthy and breathable
âś… Level low spots in the spring with sand or sandy loam
✅ Top-dress with quality soil every few years—your grass will thank you
